Building systems that don't fall over.

I'm a Lead Backend Software Engineer who has spent 10+ years — almost entirely in the startup world — designing large systems with failover and high availability in mind, and carrying them from a blank page to production.

The story so far

10+ years, one focus: systems that stay up.

2010

Into the startup world

Started my engineering career in 2010 and have spent the decade-plus since almost entirely in startups — environments where you wear a lot of hats, and systems have to be built to last from day one, not bolted on later.

Throughout

Designing for failover & high availability

My focus has consistently been large systems designed with failover and HA in mind — thinking through what happens when a node dies, a region goes down, or traffic spikes 10x, and building for it up front rather than reacting to it later.

Throughout

End-to-end project ownership

I like carrying a project the whole way: from the first design doc and architecture diagram through implementation, deployment, and the on-call rotation that keeps it running. Across those projects I've worked on backend APIs, analytics/ETL pipelines, and large-scale video processing — architected across a variety of stacks on AWS and GCP.

Today

Lead Backend Software Engineer @ Headliner

Currently at Headliner (SpareMin), working across AWS and GCP on backend systems, APIs, and the pipelines that power the product.
